Dr. Sheamini Sivasampu is currently serving as the Director of the Institute for Clinical Research at the National Institutes for Health since May 2023. Her illustrious career spans several pivotal roles, reflecting her expertise and commitment to advancing clinical and public health research.
Before assuming her current position, she was the Head of the Centre for Clinical Outcomes Research, where she led groundbreaking initiatives in evaluating healthcare outcomes. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director of the National Clinical Research Centre and held the role of Visiting Scientist at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in shaping national and international healthcare policies. She serves as the Chairperson of the Technical Working Group for COVID-19 Vaccines and played key roles in various committees such as the National COVID-19 Immunisation Guidelines Committee – RECoVaM. Her expertise extends to health technology assessment and evidence-based medicine, highlighted by her tenure in the Health Technology Assessment Section of the Medical Development Division Hospital Division. She has been a pivotal figure in developing clinical practice guidelines and ensuring their effective implementation across Malaysia. Dr. Sheamini has been actively involved in global health initiatives, representing Malaysia at prestigious forums such as the WHO Clinical Trial Forum and serving as the Malaysian Health System Research collaborative project lead with Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
