Established in 2014, Clinical Research Centre Hospital Duchess of Kent (CRC HDOK) is the fourth CRC in Sabah dedicated to advancing healthcare through cutting-edge clinical research and innovation. We strive to improve patient outcomes by conducting high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered research. Our team of experienced researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals collaborates with industry partners, academic institutions, and governmental agencies to explore new therapies, technologies, and approaches to healthcare. We are committed to making meaningful contributions to medical science while ensuring the safety and well-being of our participants.

Dr. Lai is a Consultant General surgeon with special interest in minimal invasive surgery, surgical oncology, endoscopy and wound care. He has established the Laparoscopic service and ERCP service in this hospital. He has interest and enthusiastic in global surgery. He has done many cancer awareness and prevention programme and expanding endoscopic outreach activity in the rural area of sabah. He has established wound care service and wound care training at this region. Apart from his busy clinical work and responsibility, he has participated in many clinical research and presented in numerous local and international conferences.
Research Highlights
- He had done many studies related to the Helicobacter pylori infection and innovation in endoscopy approach. Recently, he has presented in the international conference for OGDS in sitting position.
- He has participated as one of the clinical site for wound study: Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of the combined application of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) on chronic wound
